“My extensive background in managing a business together with my experience representing and advising a wide range of business clients gives me a unique perspective that blends the legal world and the practical day-to-day world of running a business.”
Kathryn focuses on corporate transactions and business law. She previously worked as a partner at Pepe & Hazard LLP in that firm’s Southport and Hartford offices. Her background includes experience in a variety of complex transactions including stock and asset acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital transactions, and secured and unsecured financings. In addition, she has represented several small to mid-size business clients in connection with a variety of general legal matters, including acting as general counsel to a client providing clinical research services to the pharmaceutical industry.
In addition to the practice of law, for several years Kathryn was the general manager of a large, nationally recognized independent retail bookstore. In that position, Kathryn gained significant experience managing a business in a highly competitive market and had responsibility for supervising all aspects of the operations of the business, including marketing, sales, merchandising, buying and inventory control, financial and accounting, shipping and receiving, website development, and new product development. She also acted as general counsel for the company and provided legal services as necessary, including forming a subsidiary for a new business venture, negotiating and closing private equity investments in that venture, and handling property leases and other business contracts.
Kathryn earned her J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1986. She originally joined the firm as an associate immediately after graduating from law school and has recently re-joined in an “of counsel” role. She earned her B.A. from the University of Connecticut. She is admitted to the Connecticut Bar.
